The weather has started to cool a little and the lake is cooling with it, fish have been on the move far more and are starting to feed. Activity has been close to the surface with fish rising to caddis, one or two daddy’s and plenty of buzzers. Best bag has been 6 fish but … Continue reading Week ending 3rd September 2017 »

Challenging fishing conditions remain with the return of the warmer weather, but those persevering with small flies are rewarded with some cracking rainbows! Alan Wingate caught a lovely 8lb 1 oz rainbow on a static black buzzer fished near the aerators. With rain forecast next week fishing is set to improve.
Notes
Fishing small nymphs almost static and dries either on the surface or just in the surface film are the most effective methods of catching at the moment in relatively challenging conditions. As usual the boats are providing the best sport giving those people better access to the aerators and deeper cooler water.

Anglers at Hayward’s Farm faced challenging conditions this week with small imitative patterns being most effective fished on floating lines. Buzzers fished in the ripple or under small indicators being very effective. Boat anglers are seeing the best sport with access to the deeper cooler water.

More rain! However the water temperature is dropping nicely and the fishing is getting better and better with some good catches as a result. Damsel, black buzzers, shuttlecock buzzers, Diawl Bachs and klinkhammers have all taken fish this week. With more rain forecast in the near future the quality of the fishing will continue to … Continue reading Week ending 6th August 2017 »

The rain has certainly stirred things up and the fishing has been good this week with the best sport still being had with Diawl Bachs and buzzers fished on floating lines.

The all too welcome rain was very well received and the lake has responded well since the deluge. Several bags of 3 and 4 fish catches were recorded and … Continue reading Week ending 23rd July 2017 »

The cooler conditions and overcast weather has resulted in the lake coming back on form. Mike Fletcher had a lovely fish of 5lb as part of a four … Continue reading Week ending 16th July 2017 »

Excellent sport was had during the week in the cooler conditions on buzzers and diawl bachs. Unfortunately the hot, bright weather which arrived at the weekend made fishing much more challenging! Catch and release has been re-instated due to the more clement weather we are experiencing this week and already 20 fish landed by one … Continue reading Week ending 9th July 2017 »
Notes
Although the sun has been out the fishing has been surprisingly good this week! Buzzers and Diawl Bachs fished under indicators, or fished very slowly near the aerators, has been a particularly successful technique for those anglers venturing out. Congratulations go to ten-year-old Luca Greenham who, while fishing with his father, managed to catch a … Continue reading Week ending 2nd July 2017 »
