Catch Returns

Week ending 15th October 2017

Notes

The fry bashing continues with Cats Whiskers, Zonkers and other fry patterns have all proving successful this week.  The brownies are also making an appearance on Haywards lake after being elusive during the summer months.  The fry bashing has been particularly good on our Hobby lake where the Tigers, Rainbows and Browns have been particularly … Continue reading Week ending 15th October 2017 »

Week ending 8th October 2017

Notes

It’s floating fry time and the fishing has been incredibly exciting with the rainbows and browns crashing into the perch fry in the margins.  Long casts are not essential as many fish are hooked in the margins, just look for the crashing rises!  Floating fry patterns are important but Cat’s Whiskers and Zonkers have also … Continue reading Week ending 8th October 2017 »

Week ending 1st October 2017

Notes

The fishing is superb with some record bags being caught, especially by those fishing from the boats.  If you would like a boat it would be advisable to book by calling the store on 01189 303 860 as they are very popular!  The daddy hatch continues to provide incredible sport with daddies fished on the … Continue reading Week ending 1st October 2017 »

Week ending 24th September 2017

Notes

The water temperature has been dropping nicely and the fish have really switched on to the huge numbers of daddies that are being blown onto the water!  This has without doubt been the best daddy hatch we have had here in years and it is reflected in the improved catch returns.

Week ending 27th August 2017

Notes

Challenging fishing conditions remain with the return of the warmer weather, but those persevering with small flies are rewarded with some cracking rainbows!  Alan Wingate caught a lovely 8lb 1 oz rainbow on a static black buzzer fished near the aerators.  With rain forecast next week fishing is set to improve.

Week ending 20th August 2017

Notes

Fishing small nymphs almost static and dries either on the surface or just in the surface film are the most effective methods of catching at the moment in relatively challenging conditions.  As usual the boats are providing the best sport giving those people better access to the aerators and deeper cooler water.

Week ending 13th August 2017

Notes

Anglers at Hayward’s Farm faced challenging conditions this week with small imitative patterns being most effective fished on floating lines.  Buzzers fished in the ripple or under small indicators being very effective.  Boat anglers are seeing the best sport with access to the deeper cooler water.
