High water temperatures and low dissolved oxygen concentrations are always challenging conditions for salmonids and this year’s record summer temperatures have exacerbated the problem.
Because of this, in the interests of fish welfare, we are closing Haywards Farm Lake with immediate effect. We apologise for any inconvenience caused but trust all our fisherman will understand our wish to ease the pressure on our prime trout stocks.
We will keep the fishery aerators running throughout the closure to ensure the fish are constantly supplied with oxygen and will reopen when water temperatures drop and we deem the fish to be out of any danger.
For regular updates, check this website at, follow our social media feeds on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, or call the fishery on: 0118 930 3860
The onsite Sportfish store remains open during the lake closure, so please do call in to see us.
